New Patterns - Underwater and Summer BBQ

I created these sea patterns inspired by Spoonflower's Monochromatic Design Challenge for March. The original illustrations were hand-drawn first and then translated into vector. The texture on the cobalt blue pattern is created with a roller and India ink and scanned in  to apply to the artwork. We love visiting zoos and aquariums when we travel, especially the aquariums. We do not have an aquarium near our home located in the midwest; it is always motivating to see the multitudes of fish and other aquatic life whenever we can. I was thinking, in particular, about the Georgia Aquarium for this pattern.

Another set of patterns inspired by a Spoonflower Design Contest--Summer Cookout.

I created a retro-feeling pattern out of some of my favorite summer icons: a flaming grill, burgers, hot dogs, watermelon, cups full of lemonade, and popsicles. For both the underwater sea life and summer BBQ I used handmade textured that was digitally applied to my vector illustrations.
