DIY: Magnetic Spice Rack
Our spice cabinet was overcrowded and it was hard to find any of the spices that we needed. We needed a new solution that had spices just in reach and a low profile on counters. The stainless steel looked great with our appliances and the nice square pattern on the side of the cabinet has received lots of compliments.
- Steel sheet (from Menards)
- Adhesive (from Menards)
- Metal Containers with Clear Lids (specialty bottle)
- Magnetic Sheet with Adhesive back (Michael's)
Trim the metal sheet to size, the side of our cabinet is 12" x 24". We used a caulking gun to apply adhesive to the cabinet and then placed the metal sheet onto the cabinet. Press the sheet down firmly and evenly across the surface. Then allow the adhesive to cure for 24 hours. In the meantime you can assemble the spice tins. Cut the magnetic sheet into 2 x 2" squares and then cut the corners off so they don't stick out from the rounded corners. Press hard to adhere the magnetic backing. Once the sheet has cured to the cabinet you can arrange the tins however you would like.
