Blood Orange Sorbet
Blood orange is my favorite flavor. I love it in cookies, juice, and in this frozen treat. This recipe is a great treat to enjoy any night of the week.
1/2 cup of sugar 1 Tb honey 3 Tb water Juice of 1/2 a lemon 2 cups blood orange juice Juice from 1 orange 2 Tb white wine (optional)
On the stove over a low heat setting heat heat up the sugar, honey, and water until sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally. Then ad all of the juice and wine. Stir together and heat for 5 minutes. Run the liquid through a strainer to get out any seeds or pulp that may have come from the fruit. Then let the liquid cool for 2 hours before putting it in the ice cream maker. After it has been refrigerated, add it to your ice cream maker. The base should be ready in about 10 minutes. Then pour it in a container and let the mixture freeze for 1 hour to help it harden more.
