A creative life of two people intertwined with our two kids, two dogs, and two very different passions.
The catalyst for creating Lathe & Quill was the birth of our son and the joy he brought into our lives. We wanted to be able to provide for our growing family and show our son that you can follow your creative joy with hard work and dedication. We bring that love for our family into everything we create.
I have a passion for wood working and can talk for hours about the different species of wood and how to combine grains for the most beautiful outcome. The woods I am experimenting with right now are yellow Osage and Kansas Black Walnut. When I am not working at my full-time job, or running the saw in our shop, I am playing D&D with my friends and painting miniatures. I am never satisfied and always want to continue to improve on the skills I have.
I worked at an advertising agency for over six year before diverging into illustration and pattern design for Lathe & Quill. I am passionate about whimsical patterns and vibrant colors, and occasionally trying my hand at hand lettering. I am looking forward to learning more about the wood side of the business as well. One of my life goals is to learn how to turn a bowl. When I have a free moment to spare (which doesn’t happen often with two kids and business to run) you can find me curled up with a nose in a book or re-watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Harry Potter for the 100th time.
